A Bit About Me...
I am a travel, architecture, nature, art, and food enthusiast! I have two teenage daughters, who inspire me everyday. I love my job as a teacher, being able to help people learn a foreign language because I know it can be difficult (just like my experience with learning French)!
My Teaching Journey
After seeing my kids grow up in a non-Chinese speaking environment, and struggling with going to Mandarin school every Saturday for years was difficult for me; for me Mandarin is a vital part of their identity and a useful skill I didn't want them to lose. There was a disconnect, this was something that many parents and I faced. I was inspired to create ways for kids to learn Mandarin that was catered towards non-native speakers, in order to make it a fun experience for them. I realized that through a multi-sense, multi-dimensional, and continuous learning that children will be more inclined to keep going. My curriculum reflects my values for learning, which are fun, play, learn. This ideas has also continued to inspire me to teach people from all age groups. When teaching adults, my first step is to identify their motivations and purposes behind learning Mandarin; this way I can assist them in focusing on reaching their goals. Make learning Chinese part of your life, whether it is watching TV, listening to songs, or making Chinese speaking connections with the people around you!
